We, Jill and John, first met Amanda when she appeared at our door with a walker. Our neighbor down the street, Paula, had thought that I might need one, which I did, and sent her friend Amanda to Costco to get one. And this is how our working relationship/friendship with Amanda has gone since 2013! It is a matter of neighbors helping neighbors via word of mouth about Amanda Swevens and her amazing business, Inspiration To Independence.

Amanda has done endless chores and projects and tasks for us that we can no longer do for ourselves. That includes everything from wrapping presents to installing our basement floor to electrical wiring to planting flowers to filling out passport forms . Soon she will drive us to the hospital for John’s surgery. There really is no end to her ability and versatility! 


It really is a joyful time on Wednesdays when Amanda arrives with her smile. Our sweet dog, Rex, loves her more than anybody and always knows he’s about to get a walk to the park. 
Amanda is an efficient problem solver. Last time she was here, she employed her occupational therapy skills to arrange my kitchen so that everything was in my reach since I am unable to stand or walk and use a wheelchair. She also wired a light switch and laid out a heavy new rug under a bed. Tomorrow, she may paint a door, cook a meal for the freezer, or switch winter clothes to summer ones. Someday we hope to have her as our traveling companion for a trip.


Amanda is always available and indeed seems to be a part of our family now! We truly cannot imagine life without her. It has always been a pleasure to recommend her to our friends and neighbors, and then subsequently to see her distinctive blue truck in front of their houses.


We could go on and on about Amanda‘s contributions to our home and family and will always recommend her without reservation!

i2i was instrumental in quality of life for my parents,  both having dementia as well as my mom having Parkinson’s. Amanda Swevens (inspiration to independence) has worked for my husband(Roger) and me for over 6 years now. During that period of time she has done so much for us it’s hard for me to even recall it all. On a regular basis she has done yard work for us including planting and maintaining gardens and raking leaves. Other outside work has included shoveling snow, cleaning gutters and organizing our carport. Inside she has cleaned, helped us to organize closets and shelves, washed windows, painted our walls and most importantly has helped us to problem solve issues as they have arisen. For example when we got rid of our wood stove she figured out how to repair the wall where the stove pipe had been. Amanda has travelled with us to Colorado where she provided support to us in navigating around airports and places to visit when we arrived. I could go on and on. So let me end by describing who she is as a person: she is creative, organized, a problem solver and most of all she listens and is fun to be with. The name of her company Inspiration to Independence is very apt. That is what she has done for us since 2017.

Amanda has been with Mom (age 88)  for several years, and has become one of her dear friends. There is no task too big or small, from housework, installing shower equipment to orchestrating Mom’s move to assisted living. Now they just hang out together a couple times a month!
