Evolution of Inspiration to Independence
In 2012, Amanda realized that her skills, experience, and services matched a growing need for women in non-traditional trades to help people in their homes, gardens, and lives~ using a Holistic Approach. Amanda decided to enroll in the Women’s Small Business Program and Inspiration to Independence was officially born.
Inspiration to Independence is built on a foundation that honors an individual’s life processes—meeting people where they are and relating to them with respect, dignity, creativity, and humor. Amanda has the desire to always learn and grow in all that she does, continuing to attend trainings and courses to understanding the dynamic life we live. She has a passion to be of service and to use the skills she has—and will learn—to maximize her positive impact on the world starting with her community.
As an artist, she believes that ideas and imagination are assets. Amanda’s colorful and inspirational art pieces have been displayed in local galleries, sold in local stores, in Vermont welcome centers and can be found on window sills across state lines. Always creative and wowed by color, Amanda engages in the arts as a means of expression. She turns the spark of a unique idea into tangible creation. The inspiration arises in its own way. Encouraging those who have the desire for creative expression by providing supplies and guidance.
Amanda’s services enable the people she works with and their families to have more freedom and independence in their lives. The everyday inspiration arises from the myriad of connections Amanda engages with. Connection with people. Connection with the earth and plants. Connection with creativity, imagination, and innovation. Connection with projects. Connections in Communities.
Amanda’s compassionate ways are brought to the families she works with, whether they are near or far from their loved ones. Bringing them closer and keeping them close through video chats.
A unique quality of i2i is the option for the care recipient / homeowner to participate in the work being done. Encouraging folks to learn about the repair, and empower individuals to understand how their home works, from the inside out. In turn learning from others, Amanda enjoys working alongside anyone who has base knowledge for the project and may just need an extra hand if they are unable to do what they once could.
Holistic Approach to Aging
Inspiration to Independence believes in maintaining a strong connection between mind, body, and spirit. A holistic approach to aging considers aging humans through multiple perspectives at once, taking into consideration the 8 Dimensions of Wellness~ emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, and financial.
The belief of the Founder, Amanda, is that care with dignity supports the self-respect of the person, recognizing their capacities and ambitions, and does nothing to undermine it. Offering support yet never doing for someone what they can do for themselves. It includes respect for what they can do, who they are, and the life they’ve lived. It’s a central part of quality in care work and quality of life.
Amanda believes choice and agency in one’s life is powerful and sometimes assistance in the day-to-day is needed. When help is an option, what seems like the impossible becomes a possibility and with that, it opens up space in their lives. Understanding there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to aging, our holistic approach enables us to work together to create a care plan that is dynamic and changes as you age. Empower and encourage individuals while meeting people where they are, eye to eye.

TravALZ
Why Certified Senior TravALZ Companions?
Growing older doesn’t mean travel needs to end. Even people living with dementia desire to stay connected to family and friends and still explore new places. For many, chronic health conditions, added frailty or lack of family and friends to join in will limit travel. Having a competent and knowledgeable travel companion who can plan and carry out travel allows older adults to relax and enjoy the experience.
